PRIORITIES

I am motivated to serve because I have seen firsthand the gaps in communication, transparency, and collaboration within local government. Prairie View deserves leadership that is professional, accessible, and committed to rebuilding trust with the community. I believe one of the most important roles of a council member is to serve as a bridge—bringing people together, ensuring voices are heard, and turning concerns into action.

My experiences in leadership have prepared me to navigate complex environments, work with diverse groups, and advocate for meaningful solutions. I understand both the student experience and the needs of long-time residents, which gives me a unique perspective on how to move Prairie View forward in a way that benefits everyone.

Restoring Trust in Local Government

Many residents feel disconnected from City Hall. My priority is ensuring that local government is transparent, responsive, and accountable to the people it serves.

Key Actions

  • Launch Quarterly Community Town Halls so residents can speak directly with city leadership.

  • Create a “Council Update” newsletter and social media report summarizing major city decisions.

  • Advocate for clear communication of city budgets, ordinances, and upcoming projects.

Goal

Ensure residents always know what their city government is doing and how decisions impact them.

Strengthening the City–University Partnership

Prairie View is unique because the city and Prairie View A&M University share the same community. When they work together, the entire city benefits.

Key Actions

  • Establish a City–University Partnership Task Force to improve collaboration.

  • Encourage student internships with the City of Prairie View.

  • Partner with PVAMU to support community service, economic development, and public safety initiatives.

  • Improve communication between city leaders, university administration, and student government leaders

Goal

Turn Prairie View into a model college-town partnership.

Improving Infrastructure and Basic City Services

Residents deserve safe roads, reliable utilities, and well-maintained public spaces.

Key Actions

  • Advocate for road repairs and street maintenance in needed areas.

  • Support improvements to street lighting and neighborhood safety infrastructure.

  • Work with city departments to ensure consistent trash pickup and city services.

  • Identify opportunities to secure state and federal grants for infrastructure projects.

Goal

Improve the everyday quality of life for Prairie View residents.

Responsible Growth and Development

Prairie View continues to grow, and the city must manage that growth responsibly.

Key Actions

  • Support smart zoning and development policies that protect neighborhoods.

  • Encourage small business development and local entrepreneurship.

  • Work with developers to ensure new projects benefit both students and long-term residents.

  • Promote responsible housing development that addresses student and resident needs.

Goal

Ensure Prairie View grows in a way that benefits the entire community.
